Our Mindshaft game has always stood out as being a different kind of experience from the rest of our missions. We prefer to refer to it as an interactive gaming experience as opposed to an escape room since it really didn’t feel like a traditional escape room. But escape games are our speciality, so we went ahead and made some changes so that the Mindshaft experience feels more like our other games. Now, after a few weeks of being closed down, Mindshaft has reopened and is better than ever. Here are some of the changes you can expect.
We love to push the boundaries of technology and gameplay when we design a new room, but the original Mindshaft pushed too far. It wasn’t an escape room and didn’t allow you to race the clock as you battled the demon. With some small alterations, Mindshaft now has that classic escape room feeling. If you can solve the puzzles quickly, then you can speed through the game for a massive score boost!
The original Mindshaft used a few set pieces to challenge players. Groups that performed well would face increasing difficulty, while groups that struggled would face variations of that same challenge. The new version has expanded to include new puzzles that use the same mechanisms so that players experience a greater variety of challenges. Now when you solve a puzzle, you move forward. Like other escape rooms, you can play at your own pace and no longer have to beat a series of “levels” to continue.
Building a medieval fantasy game meant finding ways to create authentic immersion. While the set pieces in Mindshaft have always been epic, we’ve utilized them in new and exciting ways, as well as added some decoration to really complete the experience. The new Mindshaft will draw you into its fantasy world, you’ll face exciting obstacles as you battle your way towards the demon’s lair.
