Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can we just show up?
Showing up without a booking is risky business. We can book up weeks in advance and strongly recommend you make a booking to ensure you can play. We get especially busy on weekends and there is absolutely no guarantee that the room or time that you want will be available if you do not have a booking.
-
How much does it cost?
Each player pays $37.95 plus tax.
-
The forecast says it might snow! Can I cancel my booking without penalty?
You can always cancel in accordance with our cancellation policy. Snow and other weather conditions are part of living in Canada. Escape Games Canada is an indoor facility and operates in all weather conditions. In the event of severe weather which results in major road closures, a rain check date for your mission may be offered. We may also offer a rain check in the event of a Government-issued state of emergency or a service outage that prevents us from honouring your booking.
-
I have a 12 year-old, can they play with us?
Absolutely! Participants under the age of 13 can play any of our rooms, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Participants aged 13-17 are able to play without adult supervision, but must have their liability waiver signed by someone over 18. Toddlers and infants in strollers or carriers cannot participate.
-
How many people can play?
The rooms are designed to be played with groups of 4 or more players. We recommend a group of 6 to 8 for ideal gameplay. Playing with fewer than the minimum number of players required means you’ll have to purchase the minimum number of tickets. It can also be challenging or near impossible to win.
We can host large groups of up to 54 players split across all seven of our fun escape rooms. -
Can I play by myself?
No! For safety reasons we will not let you try the room on your own. It would be nearly impossible to solve some of the puzzles in the missions unless you have mastered the art of manipulating the space-time continuum or have multiple appendages like Cthulhu. If you are Cthulhu, you are more than welcome to try.
-
I made a reservation but I can't make it, what do I do?
We understand that things can come up. If you can’t make a reservation please notify us at least 24 hours before your reservation. Cancellation fees may apply if you cancel after this time and we are unable to fill the space. If the number of players in your group changes that’s not a problem. No Shows will result in the minimum number of tickets being charged to the payment method on file. For more information about our policies, please call us or see our cancellation policy in your booking confirmation email.
-
I have a health condition, is it safe for me to play?
It really depends. Some health conditions may pose considerable safety risks. If you have a pace-maker, severe heart condition, epilepsy, claustrophobia, if you are pregnant, or have a physical disability which makes standing, crawling, or climbing difficult please let our staff know before participating. We want to make sure that you’re playing a game that is both safe and accommodating.
-
Wouldn’t this game be more fun if we were drunk or high?
Although some things might be more fun under the influence of mind-altering substances, we don’t think this is one of them. Having a clear mind actually makes this activity more enjoyable. We also do not tolerate substance abuse and have a zero tolerance policy for players attempting to participate while under the influence of any mind-altering substance other than caffeine or prescribed medication. Remember, our staff reserves the right to refuse anyone for any reason.
-
What if I get scared or have an emergency and need to leave?
The door you enter acts as both an entrance and an emergency exit. You can leave the mission at any time for any reason.
-
It’s so dark in here; can I use my lighter or cellphone to see?
Absolutely not! You may not bring in any digital devices or flammable substances. This is for both your safety and also because the lighting can be part of the puzzles; we use lighting to guide you through your game. Searching in dark corners with a flashlight will distract you from what is important. If you struggle with vision impairment, you may request a flashlight.
As well, photos and videos inside the room are strictly prohibited. -
I found a fire extinguisher, is this part of the puzzle?
NO! For your safety and because the city of Toronto says so, we must have fire extinguishers in your mission. If you find one please do not use it, unless you see a fire or a pack of hungry ravenous wolves (and even then, use your discretion).
-
I’m interested in running my own escape room facility!
That's great! We wish you the best of luck, but we do not offer consulting or any other support for new escape room owners at this time.
-
How hard are your games?
At Escape Games Canada, we design our rooms with a priority on theme and immersion rather than difficulty. As such, all of our missions are equally challenging, with the exception of The Ark which is slightly harder than the rest. Please note that we design our rooms for a 16+ audience, but our rooms can be enjoyed by all ages.
