Hey guys, we get tons of questions from you guys and one question really stood out to us: Are escape rooms good for introverts? The short answer is, yes! No matter if you’re an introvert or extrovert, you’re always an asset when playing in an escape room. The bottom line is that everyone brings something unique to the game! But there are three factors that really show us that introverts can really shine in an escape room, such as: being analytical, methodical, and showing supportive teamwork!

Analytical

Introverts and extroverts can have analytical outlooks, but being an introvert is a huge benefit to playing an escape room. Introverts don’t jump to conclusions, they take a step back when confronted with a puzzle. Teamwork is a core piece of an escape room, and how you analyze a puzzle to deconstruct how it works is an important skill. So, being able to focus and understand how a puzzle fundamentally works is a core way to support your team! (And get you to the correct answer quickly!) Overall, escape rooms require analytical thinking, and being good at that type of thinking will make an introverted person a core member of the group!

Methodical

An escape room has lots of moving pieces, and this can get distracting. Introverted people can be more methodical when finding a solution for a puzzle and this will push your group through the game faster. Introverts also tend to have a certain level of introspection and self-conversation, so it’s a way of quieting their own opinions until they’re sure what they’re saying is important, which is helpful because it doesn’t bog down the team’s thought process. While being vocal about your puzzle-solving is important, bringing ideas to the table after a considerable amount of thought is key.

Supportive teamwork

The friends you bring all have different skills, and being able to work as a team is at the core of playing an escape room. Your abilities, which could be methodical or analytical, are some of the important things you bring to the team! So, no matter what, the game is going to find ways to make you think differently. You’re fundamentally one piece of a larger team, and this is excellent practice to voice your opinions when you’re confident in a solution. If you know the answer, escape rooms encourage you to speak up! Even if you just have one piece of the puzzle, your introverted nature isn’t a detriment!

So are escape rooms good for introverts? Absolutely! Whether you’re an introvert or extrovert you’re going to have fun. The way you look at a puzzle is shaped by how you uniquely see the world, and being introverted will help you bring something new to your group dynamic. So be thoughtful, analytical, methodical, and you’ll find out how good you are at puzzles.
