This year has been an adventure, to say the least. But after a rough couple of months, we’re back and better than ever! The Escape Games team is thrilled to be back and we’re ready to help you have the best possible escape experience. That said, the world has changed, and so have we. Things don’t work the way they used to. There are new protocols, rules, and regulations to follow to make sure that everyone stays safe. Our customers know that we take safety very seriously, it is our number one priority. So, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve increased our safety measures to make sure that you can book with confidence.
With escape room facilities opening back up, you’ll want to be aware to make sure that you’re playing safely. As always, Escape Games Canada is prioritizing safety and we want you to know exactly what to look for, no matter where you book! There are a few things to keep an eye out for that will signify that a business is taking your safety seriously. Firstly, the building should smell clean. Escape rooms by their very nature can be stuffy. You can’t expect the air to feel fresh after people have been locked up for an hour! Any business that’s taking your safety seriously should be cleaning after every single group. They should be cleaning all props, any common touchpoints, and any furniture in the room as well. They should also be working on an amended schedule, with more time between games to be sure they can clean thoroughly. If you see games available every hour, don’t trust that business to have your best interest in mind. On top of all of that, they should require all players to wear masks at all times in the building. If a company allows players to remove their masks while playing their game, then you don’t know what could be in the air when you step into your game.
Escape Games Canada has always focused on making incredible, safe games. Your safety is our top priority, and that is even more true during these unprecedented times. The first step we took was rearranging our lobby space. Gone are the tables and chairs, and instead the floors are marked off with “zones” for groups to wait in. We measured carefully to separate waiting groups from those in line at our cash, and each other. To further social-distance, we have not only rearranged our lobby, but also our schedule to only accommodate a couple of groups at a time. Our lobby and washrooms are sterilised at regular intervals, at minimum once every hour. Our games are sterilised after every use; you can be confident that when you play, the game has just been freshly cleaned. And, of course, we require everyone in the facility to wear masks at all times. No exceptions.
While we are doing everything in our power to keep a clean and safe environment for you to play, it doesn’t happen without your help. Firstly, please wear a mask at all times when you visit us. Not only is it a by-law, but it’s for everyone’s safety. We also ask all players to make sure they’re practising good hand hygiene; wash and/or sanitize your hands before and after your game. On top of all that, make sure you’re following the markers in the lobby to keep a responsible distance from other players who aren’t in your group. With social distancing, observing mask guidelines, and some caution, you can safely and comfortably enjoy escape rooms again!
